Being able to work on this property in the classic and majestic area of Eixample in Barcelona is always an opportunity and a responsibility for architects. Our main objective was the preservation the original elements, maintaining historical value. This meant we had to restore these elements and to take care of all the details to maintain the architectural heritage of Barcelona.
In addition, being on Calle Paris and on a totally exterior and sunny fifth floor, we knew that we were in for a treat.
To optimize the space in the bedrooms and the two bathrooms we have used double partitions and fully integrated closets, thus maximizing the useful surface adapting to the housing typology of l’Eixample.
We proceeded with the restoration of such elements as the Catalan Vaults with iron beams, classic doors of 2.30m high, replacing the original glass in the windows with double planed glass and new fittings. We also went ahead and incorporated a climate control system through a perfectly integrated air ducted system.
The careful choice of new materials, especially in the bathrooms equipping, with hydraulic mosaic floors was vital to this project. The natural oak parquet and the respectful lighting with the Catalanes Vaults configure the final image of this house.
